Our Story

Boy Scout Troop 335 began at Greensburg United Methodist Church in 1956.  We are the oldest Troop in Green, Ohio.  As of June 2017, Troop 335 has 18 Scouts.  We meet every Sunday from 6:30 pm to 8 pm during the school year and from 6:30 to 8:30 in the Summer.

Troop 335, headed by Scoutmaster Brad Laterza, continues a long scouting tradition in Green, Ohio.  The troop meets weekly at Greensburg United Methodist Church and offers many opportunities to camp, hike, bike, and canoe.

The Troop regularly participates in the annual Lakes District Klondike Derby Winter Campout (and yes, it is in tents!), an annual summer annual high adventure camp, the annual Great Trail Council Summer camp, which is week-long event, held at Camp Manatoc in Peninsula, where the boys can earn merit badges and work on advancements toward their next levels of scouting.  Activities include swimming, hiking, shooting (rifles, shotguns and archery), kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, climbing wall and BMX mountain biking.

The Troop regularly travels, with activates such as canoeing on the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania, cabin camping at Camp McKinley near Lisbon, visiting the Henry Ford Museum and the Great Lakes Shipping Museum in Detroit, hike and bike along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath.  The Troop camps at Camp Tuscazoar and takes part in Dover Dam Days, participates in the annual Rogues Hollow Haunted Camp-out, and holds an annual “Turkey bowl” bowling party and Christmas party, as well as many lock-ins at the church and attends Scout Sunday Services.
